Envy and David - First Step in Schutzhund

David, Mary and Envy traveled up to Ohio on Saturday to visit the Ohio Buckeye Schutzhund Club and compete in their field trial. Before a dog can earn a Schutzhund title, they have to earn their BH. What does that mean? I'm not sure but the routine basically shows that your dog is obedient and can remain focused on you during a host of distractions (people, bicycles, cars, etc). If your dog can't earn the BH, it's not ready for the tougher stuff.

On Sunday, David took Envy through her BH routine and despite some distractions that were NOT part of the BH (another handler and his dog were having "issues", judge in training) they passed. The BH is a pass or fail, unlike the Schutzhund routines which are scored.

Envy is also pregnant and is expecting five to seven puppies at the end of the month! So not only did she endure the four hour drive and the longer-than-normal routine, she did it while carrying around a passel of squirming puppies!
